93 Degrees in Oakland

June 22, 2017

Recently, I surpassed my four-year anniversary of living in the Bay Area. The Bay Area is the first place I've ever lived in since graduating from undergrad. Very early on, I found it to be the right place to call it home. A lot of people I know who don't like the Bay Area complain about the homogeneity of it: that everyone works in tech. However, I think it is very possible to move beyond this experience and recognize that there are so many types of people here. Sometimes, it takes getting a little bit beyond what we know to be comfortable. Highly recommend this article "Where the Wealth Was All Along" on Raptitude for inspiration.

The Value of Attention

April 7, 2017

"Attention … is the taking possession by the mind, in clear and vivid form, of one out of what seem several simultaneously possible objects or trains of thought, localization, concentration, of consciousness are of its essence. It implies withdrawal from some things in order to deal effectively with others, and is a condition which has a real opposite in the confused, dazed, scatter brained state which in French is called distraction, and Zerstreutheit in German." - William James
